Objective: This study investigates the antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, L-asparaginase, antidiabetic and antioxidant activities of Saraca asoca leaf extract. The goal is to evaluate its effects on common pathogens (Staphylococcus spp., Escherichia coli, Penicillium, and Fusarium) and its potential applications.
Methods: Bacterial and fungal strains were isolated from various sources. Antimicrobial susceptibility was tested using the well diffusion method. L-asparaginase, antidiabetic, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant activities were assessed using specific assays.
Results: Extract showed significant L-asparaginase, antidiabetic, and anti-inflammatory avtivities. Fresh and dry leaves exhibited 75% and 25% efficacy, respectively, with 60% antioxidant inhibition. Escherichia coli was the most sensitive to the extract.
Conclusion: Saraca asoca leaf extract has notable potential for ayurvedic therapeutic applications due to its diverse bioactivities.
